Hot Mulled Cider
“Hot mulled cider is the traditional drink for Christmas. A special set of mugs, whether Santa faces or stoneware ones with appropriate holly designs stenciled on, would establish a nice tradition, being brought out just for this festive hour. Every member of the family can toast the season.
To make mulled cider, it is easiest to use a clean party-size coffee maker. Pour the gallon jug of cider into it; in the basket, place a filter and add these herbs and spices:
· ¼ to ½ cup of brown sugar
· One tablespoon anise seed, crushed
· Five to six whole cloves
· One cinnamon stick, broken
· One three inch strip of orange peel (use potato peeler)
Perk as for coffee; makes enough for refills.”
